- Young Parent Program
The Skill Start Program
This program provides short-term occupational skill training and job search services to individuals who have been determined eligible for Food Stamps by the Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA), but are ineligible for other public assistance, and who have been referred to the Division of Career Services. Training available: Home Health Aide, Nurse's Aide or Refresher Nurse's Aide in Plymouth and New Bedford; other training available in North or Central Massachusetts. The Young Parent Program is for pregnant and parenting teens ages 14 to 20 who have left school without a high school diploma. Young parents prepare for the GED exam and upon completion enter employment or go on to further training. The program operates the required number of hours per week needed to be in compliance with DTA.
