Work Opportunity Tax Credits (WOTC) are available to employers hiring from one or more targeted groups. The tax credit is equal to 40% of the qualified wages for those employed 400 or more hours; 25% for those employed at least 120 hours. NEW : The consolidated WOTC for hiring most target group members can be as much as $2,400 for each new adult hire; $1,200 for each new summer youth hire; and $9,000 for each new long-term family assistance recipient hired over a two-year period . Your business services representative can help you take advantage of this program.
Hiring Incentive Training Grant (HITG) assists in paying training costs up to $2,000 per employee for newly hired employees who have been unemployed over a year and those that do not have a call back date from their last employer. Employers can be awarded up to $30,000 a year.

The Insurance Partnership also helps the self-employed. This program helps pay for the health insurance small businesses offer to qualified employees. It will pay an employer as much as $1,000 a year per qualified employee, including the employee himself, provided the qualifications are met. The amount depends on the tier of coverage chosen by the employee.

Participating in Massachusetts ' WorkSharing Program is your alternative to layoffs. WorkSharing allows workers in an entire company, a company department, or even a small unit within the company, to share reduced work hours while also collecting unemployment insurance benefits to supplement their reduced wages.

Registered Apprenticeship is a post secondary education, training and employment option. It offers immediate employment for the apprentice and a combination of on-the-job training and related technical and theoretical instruction through a training provider. It is business and industry driven, targeting the high-growth industries that face critical skilled worker shortages now and in the foreseeable future.
